Testicular biopsy

  • Although not part of routine tests, it is possible that a tissue sample may need to be taken from the testes in order to ascertain the presence of any damage. This can be carried out either using a thin needle, or, depending on the indications, through a small incision in the testicle and excision of a small piece, in order for it to be histologically tested in the lab, so as to ascertain if there is any disorder affecting sperm production, if the spermatozoa producing tubes have been destroyed, etc.
